How to Care For and “Raise” Your Tea Pet

Raising a tea pet is a rewarding, slow process. To ensure your companion develops a beautiful patina:

1. Share Your Tea: Always pour your first tea wash (or any leftover tea) directly over your tea pet.

2. Never Use Soap: Because unglazed clay is highly porous, never clean your tea pet with soap, detergents, or chemical cleaners. Doing so will strip away the accumulated tea oils and ruin the patina.

3. Brush and Rinse: Simply rinse your tea pet with clean hot water or use a dedicated tea brush to evenly distribute the tea liquor over its surface.
