Authentic Chinese Teapots: The Heart of Gongfu Tea
The teapot is the undisputed centerpiece of any traditional tea set. It is where the crucial alchemy of brewing happens, transforming dry leaves into a fragrant, complex liquor. In traditional Chinese tea culture, a teapot is never just a functional tool—it is an expression of personal taste, an artifact of deep cultural heritage, and a vital companion in your daily tea rituals.
Whether you are seeking a precise vessel for Gongfu cha or a convenient infuser mug for your office desk, our collection of Chinese Teapots offers a perfect blend of ancient craftsmanship and modern utility.
Discover Your Ideal Brewing Vessel
Our curated selection ranges from intimate 4.1oz clay pots to generous 17.6oz glass vessels. Explore the unique styles and materials to find the teapot that best suits your brewing habits:
The Elegant Side-Handle Teapot
A standout in our collection is the traditional Side-Handle Teapot. Featuring an ergonomic handle placed at a 90-degree angle to the spout, these teapots allow for effortless, swift pouring with a simple flick of the wrist. Many of our side-handle pots feature natural wood grips, adding a touch of organic warmth to the brewing experience while keeping your hands safe from the heat.
Rustic Ceramics & Wabi-Sabi Aesthetics
Embrace the beauty of the natural and the unrefined with our handcrafted ceramic pots. Designed with the Japanese and Chinese philosophy of Wabi-Sabi in mind, these teapots feature:
-
Vintage Bronze & Iron Rust Glazes: Dark, moody finishes that look like antique treasures.
-
Textured & Hammered Finishes: From “withered wood” designs to matte black clay, offering a deeply grounding, tactile experience.
-
Built-in Strainers: Many of our ceramic pots include fine mesh or traditional clay filters right at the spout for a clean, leaf-free pour.
Painted Porcelain & Playful Designs
If you prefer a brighter aesthetic, explore our smooth porcelain teapots. Choose from classic Blue and White ink bamboo patterns, elegant starry sky landscapes, or add a touch of whimsy to your tea table with our hand-painted Ceramic Cat designs.
Modern Glass & Infuser Mugs
Watch your tea leaves dance and expand with our heatproof glass teapots. For the modern tea drinker on the go, our Hammered Glass Tea Infuser Mugs feature brilliant tea-separation designs. These allow you to steep loose-leaf tea perfectly at your desk, lifting the built-in strainer out the moment your brew reaches the ideal strength.
How to Use a Traditional Chinese Teapot
If you are new to Eastern tea culture, it is important to note that a traditional Chinese teapot is used exclusively for brewing, not for boiling water. You should never place these teapots directly on a stove.
-
Warm the Pot: Pour a little hot water into your empty teapot and swirl it around to preheat the vessel. Discard this water.
-
Add Your Leaves: Add your loose leaf tea. For Gongfu brewing, you will use a higher ratio of leaves to water than Western brewing.
-
Brew: Pour heated water (from a separate kettle) over the leaves. Because Gongfu pots are small, steeping times are incredibly short—often just a few seconds to a minute—allowing you to enjoy multiple, evolving infusions from the same leaves.
